Smodin is a B2C AI content writer designed to help students, teachers, and content creators generate high-quality text quickly and easily. They had several major issues with their SaaS UX Design so we started with a UX Audit evaluation. The platform also includes an AI Grader, making it a valuable tool for academic writing, assignments, and evaluation. The client’s main goal was to design a clear, engaging, and student-friendly website that communicates trust while showcasing the power of AI in education.

SaaS UX Audit Findings
- Pricing structure for the SaaS AI Writer App Smodin was not showcasing their best feature, which was account sharing among 4 different students for a single account.
- Multiple AI features (content writer, AI grader, research tools) were overwhelming the users and no segmentation for different user profiles
- Mental model and user behavioral issues were due to lack of proper UX labels of the whole SaaS Web App.
- 37 Usability issues were found mainly blocking paths for users and using multiple modules to do one simple task
- Poor information architecture and hierarchy of controls on Mobile/Responsive version of the SaaS Writer App
- Two versions of the this SaaS AI Writer being shown to free and premium users (Promotes Ambiguity)
Resolving problems found during UX Research
We crafted the Smodin App website in Figma with a focus on simplicity, trust, and user confidence — directly addressing every pain point uncovered during our SaaS UX audit.
- Built a design system for consistency across buttons, colors, and typography.
- Clear path of action for each user to complete their AI writing task in one go (before they had to use 3 modules)
- Created feature highlight sections to explain AI tools in an easy-to-understand way.
- Improved information hierarchy so students can instantly find what they need.
- We Segmented the controls and even modules/features for teachers and student user personas.
- Better mobile versions of SaaS AI App where all the usage controls are above the fold
- Seamless SaaS UX Design for Smodin to show the same app version for every type of users
- Users can pin different modules of the SaaS Web App so they can use them with ease from Dashboard.
- Clearly showing the usage stats for each module (AI writing used 300 credits)
SaaS UX Design improvements
The mobile experience for Smodin App was carefully designed to ensure everything is easy to tap and accessible above the fold. Since most students and educators access the app on the go, the design focuses on simplicity, speed, and usability.
- The AI Content Writer and AI Grader tools are placed right at the top, so users can instantly start generating or copying content without scrolling.
- Buttons, icons, and inputs were optimized with mobile-friendly sizes for effortless tapping.
Responsive Layouts
Minimal Steps: Copying AI-generated content is made one-tap simple, reducing friction for students who need quick results. Each section adapts to smaller screens while keeping clear CTAs and easy navigation.
The End Result
The final design delivered a modern, student-friendly SaaS landing page that makes Smodin’s AI tools approachable while driving signups and user engagement.
